1851 Census Returns for Ardwick

A considerable part of the 1851 census returns for Manchester, Salford and surrounding areas were damaged by water while in storage and it has not been possible to satisfactorily film or digitally scan the returns. The original books are also too fragile to permit public access.

This downloadable file contains transcripts for the township of Ardwick (TNA reference: HO/107/2220). It has proved possible to recover details for approximately 72% of the 15,793 people recorded within the township. Please note that the returns for Chorlton-on-Medlock are published as a separate downloadable file.

In addition to the transcripts, the file also contains complete surname/forename and street indexes.
