1851 Census Returns for Oldham Below Town

A considerable part of the 1851 census returns for Manchester, Salford and surrounding areas were damaged by water while in storage and it has not been possible to satisfactorily film or digitally scan the returns. The original books are also too fragile to permit public access.

This downloadable file contains transcripts for the township of Oldham Below Town (TNA reference: HO/107/2240). It has proved possible to recover details for approximately 97% of the 5,706 people recorded within the district.

In addition to the transcripts, the file also contains complete surname/forename and street indexes.
